Original vs Mini Simploo: Size and Design
The first noticeable difference between the Simploo Mini and Original is their size and design. The Simploo Mini is more compact and portable, making it an excellent choice for those with limited space. On the other hand, the Simploo Original boasts a standard size, ideal for permanent installations in homes or cabins. We used the Simploo Original in our camper build as we had a designated shower room and it fitted nicely into the build. Looking forward we have opted for a Mini to save some extra space.

The Simploo Original has a wider toilet seat that lifts up and feels like a more conventional toilet whereas the Mini is narrow with an attached seat. This makes the Simploo more comfortable in my opinion. One thing I noticed straight away was the Simploo Mini does NOT have a soft close lid whereas the Simploo Original does.

Original vs Mini Simploo: Capacity and Materials
One main difference and factor to consider is the capacity of each model. The Simploo Mini offers a 9L pee bottle and 19L solids bucket. Interestingly, the Simploo Original, with its larger design, provides a smaller pee capacity of 6L and only a slightly larger solids capacity of 20L.
The materials used in creating both the toilets are also different. The Simploo Mini is crafted from 3D printed plant based plastic. In contrast, the Simploo Original is built with a PVC frame and a aluminium plastic composite shell.
Another difference is the material of the pee bottle. The Simploo Original has a lightweight plastic container with a screw lid. We had no problems with this but we did end up denting it after dropping it one (it did still work though). The Simploo Mini comes with a 3D printed bottle, this is much heavier but more robust the lid places on top with a snug fit.

Ease of installation is often a deciding factor. The Simploo Mini has a fan that can be relocated and positioned to the right, left or back of the unit. The Simploo Original has a permanent fan position that you choose at time of purchase. This means you need to be sure of the positioning of the unit before purchasing and may make it difficult to relocate the toilet.

Additional user-friendly features can be found in both models. The Simploo Original has a sliding modesty hatch, this has been upgraded for the mini to a lever on the outside which is a definite upgrade. The Simploo Mini offers a built in pee alarm we had trouble with are pee alarm breaking for our Simploo Original so this is a great upgrade. The biggest change though seems to be the attached separator and lid, this will allow you to drive without attached the pee lid which to us is a big bonus and means no accidents can happen! We did sometimes forget to out the lid on or even take it off.

The price is quite similar between the two models. At the time of writing, the Simploo Mini is priced at £559 -568. The Simploo Original, is available at £509-529.

In conclusion, choosing between the Simploo Original and Simploo Mini depends on your specific needs and space requirements. The Simploo Mini’s compact design makes it ideal for smaller areas with a similar capacity to the Original, while the Simploo Original offers more of a standard toilet experience with a soft close lid. For me however, the Simploo Mini wins for a Van Build, the price may be slightly higher but in my opinion it is worth it.
