Haad Khom Beach Koh Phangan: A Complete Guide
Haad Khom Beach is the perfect paradise if you’re looking to get away from the crowds, snorkel off-shore and enjoy one of the best beaches Koh Phangan has to offer.
Situated in the North of the island, Haad Khom Beach offers a relaxed day out. When we arrived there were only a handful of people sunbathing and we easily found ourselves a spot with a little bit of shade perfect for the midday heat of Thailand.
Haad Khom, probably our favourite beach on Koh Phangan, is less developed than other places around the island, one reason why we loved it so much. Being off-the-beaten-track there’s not much here apart from a small cafe, a prime snorkelling reef and ample space for sunbathing.

Where Is Haad Khom Beach?
Haad Khom Beach is located in the North West of Koh Phangan in the area of Chaloklum and is on the East side of Chaloklum Bay. From the main town of Thong Sala, the drive takes around 25 minutes by scooter.
How To Get To Haad Khom Beach?
The easiest way to get around the island is via scooter which can be hired for 200-300 THB a day. If you have a scooter, follow the main tourist road up to Chaloklum and from there a hilly section will take you up and over the headland to Haad Khom Beach. There is a small parking area on the side of the road where we recommend you leave your scooter then walk 2-minutes down the hilly entrance to the beach. This road is steep and unkept so we don’t recommend driving down here.

An alternative option if you don’t want to drive is to hire a taxi.
Finally, the most fun way but also the most expensive is to arrive by boat. A taxi boat from Chaloklum Town makes the journey around the headland to Haad Khom and other scheduled bays in the area for 150 THB each way. There are no set times but during our time on the beach we regularly saw the boat come and go.

What To Expect At Haad Khom Beach
If you’re looking for a quiet escape, a beach less crowded than Haad Rin or Zen Beach, then Haad Khom near Malibu Beach and Chaloklum is the place to go.
Not the easiest beach to get to due to the hilly headland, some visitors may be put off visiting, however this was our favourite beach on Koh Phangan and one of our favourite beaches in Thailand!
Once you’ve traversed down the hill you will come across Haad Khom Bungalows and their restaurant before being greeted by white sand, tropical palm trees and calm crystal-clear waters!

Take the time to enjoy the views, a small bay with rising hills surrounding it make it scheduled, relaxing and perfect for a day trip. Find your spot then head into the water. Haad Khom Beach at high tide is the perfect place for a swim, the water is deeper here than other beaches on the island and if you head out and over to the reef you will find a collection of living coral and tropical fish that call Haad Khom home. If you’re still looking for more snorkelling or missed the high tide head to Mae Haad Beach which is also home to diverse marine life.

If you’re starting to get hungry Haad Khom Bungalows serves food, however on the day we visited the kitchen was closed; normally you can enjoy local Thai food or seafood delights right on the sand.
Never want to leave? We’re with you here and there is some Haad Khom accommodation if you choose to stay a little longer. These would be the perfect get-away choice for couples or families looking for a quiet area to stay on Koh Phangan.

How Much Is Entrance Fee To Haad Khom Beach?
Haad Khom Beach is free to enter and has a free parking spot on the side of the road.
What Is Near To Haad Khom Beach?
On the beachfront you can find some restaurants and accommodation however you won’t find any shops. The nearest place to head for groceries is the town of Chaloklum which is around an 8-minute scooter drive.

Haad Khom Accommodation
Situated on the Haad Khom beachfront is the luxury resort Coconut Beach Bungalows which offers a private beach area, infinity pool, fitness centre and comfortable bungalows for couples or families to enjoy their time in Koh Phangan.

Final Thoughts on Haad Khom Beach Koh Phangan
Haad Khom Beach is a beautiful, secluded paradise away from the busier beaches on Koh Phangan. Although not the easiest beach to get to, this adds to the charm and means it often has a relaxed vibe with a few people soaking up the sun, snorkelling and enjoying a drink at Haad Khom Bungalows.
