Ushuaia gives you a unique feeling. Standing at the southernmost city on Earth, where the Andes meet the sea and Antarctica beckons beyond.
You've travelled to the End of the World; now see it like never before. HeliUshuaia's luxury helicopter tours lift you above Tierra del Fuego's dramatic peaks, vibrant lakes, and windswept landscape, revealing Patagonia's untamed beauty from above. Of all the ways to experience Ushuaia: boat tours, hiking, wildlife watching, nothing compares to the perspective from a helicopter, it’s one of the most unique things to do in Ushuaia.

Ushuaia feels raw and rugged, the Andes plunge into the Beagle Channel and there’s always a nip in the air (even in summer). For us it was a milestone destination and we just had to celebrate. After researching the best tours in Ushuaia, we found the one: a helicopter ride with a glass of champagne? Go on then!
If you're seeking an unforgettable adventure tourism experience in Ushuaia, we can highly recommend HeliUshuaia. With over 20 years of experience and always putting safety first, we enjoyed a 30 minute scenic flight over the mountains, stopping off at a mountain lake for a glass of bubbly and a toast.
This article outlines our experience flying with HeliUshuaia, what to expect, why it belongs on your Ushuaia bucket list, and how to book this incredible adventure.

What To Expect on Your HeliUshuaia Flight & Our Experience
A helicopter flight over Patagonia was on our bucket list, but when we arrived at the helipad and saw the aircraft waiting, the excitement mixed with nerves.
HeliUshuaia understands this. Natalia, our host, immediately made us feel welcome and comfortable. While monitoring weather conditions for the safest flight window, she served us genuinely excellent cappuccinos, it’s the little touches!
Notoriously, the weather is temperamental in Ushuaia and after waiting a little while the clouds parted and it was time to go. They won’t fly unless the weather conditions are optimal, so once we had the green light, we received a safety briefing before heading out to the Helicopters.

Take Off: La Ciudad del Fin del Mundo from Above
The pilots greeted us and helped us get settled into our seats with seatbelts and headsets.
Then you’re off! The feeling of weightlessness takes over and you're suddenly above La Ciudad del Fin del Mundo (The City at the End of the World).
Below you is the Beagle channel and the tiny houses nestled beneath domineering mountains that we were soon going to explore!
Flying Through Patagonia’s Untamed Wilderness
Our 30-minute flight path took us through a dramatic valley, mountains either side of us and plenty to see below. Tumbling waterfalls, beavers dams and sub-Antarctic forests for as far as we could see, it gave us the feeling of being somewhere remote, wild and untamed.
We passed over Laguna Esmeralda, the glacial lake glinting in the sunshine, a jewel in the jagged, wild landscape.
During the flight the pilot offered out interesting information and was happy to answer any questions, even in English!

The Champagne Toast
The nerves had dissipated and we were in complete awe of the scenery around us, the tour topped off by landing in an amphitheatre of mountains by a laguna. We were told they have over 200 spots to land and we’re sure they’re all as beautiful as each other but this one seemed magical. Snow-capped mountains rose around us while we toasted a glass of champagne, a fitting way to celebrate reaching the end of the world.

The Return Flight: Ushuaia's Landmarks from Above
We spent a few minutes soaking up the incredible view before we hopped back into the Helicopter to head back to the city. As we rounded the valley corner, Ushuaia came into view and you can spot some of the more famous landmarks below such as the Prison, St Christopher shipwreck and Arakur Hotel (one of the best places to stay in the city!)
We landed back at the Helipad, exhilarated and smiling! A quick browse of the souvenir shop and there it is: an experience we’ll never forget. Out of everything we did in Ushuaia this experience stood out!
Choosing Your Helicopter Tour
There’s no shortage of choice at HeliUshuaia from 360 degree flights around the city to longer excursions to remote parts of the southernmost tip, there is something for everyone!

This is one of the most affordable ways to experience Ushuaia from the air. You'll circle the city for panoramic views of the Beagle Channel, surrounding mountains, and iconic landmarks like the prison museum and port. At this price point, it's exceptional value for a helicopter experience at the End of the World.
This mid-length flight takes you over Ushuaia and into the surrounding wilderness to view the stunning Laguna Esmeralda, a glacial lake that gleams like an emerald jewel against the Andean landscape.
This is the experience we went on and trust us it was unforgettable. A scenic flight through the Andes with a glass of bubbly at the top! It’s the perfect balance of adventure and luxury! With the stop the whole tour takes around 45 minutes.
This scenic flight option takes you deep into Tierra del Fuego's most remote terrain, covering multiple glacial lakes, vast valleys, and pristine wilderness. You’ll stop off for a glass of champagne and have endless photograph opportunities of the unreal landscape.
