Munduk, our favourite town on the island, is the home to Bali’s best waterfalls, in this blog we share everything you need to know about Red Coral Waterfall which is also known as Munduk Waterfall.
Munduk Waterfall thunders down past dark green vines into a large pool beneath and can be visited on its own or as part of the Munduk Four Waterfalls Trail. One of the busier waterfalls in the area we saw multiple people brave the cold water and take a dip under the raging torrent of water. Here you can feel the cooling spray of the falls even if you don’t want to fully submerge yourself.

Where Is Munduk Waterfall?
Munduk Waterfall can be found in the north of the mountain town just off the main road. Munduk is 2 hours from popular Ubud, however we recommend spending two to three nights here rather than cramming in a day trip.
Munduk Waterfall Parking
Just off the main road next to Red Land Warung is a small Parking area which is perfect if you’re visiting Munduk Waterfall, the fee is 3,000 IDR. If you want to do the four waterfalls walk we have a different starting point suggestion (Melanting Cottages) which you can find here.
The Munduk Waterfall Parking area is a short 20m walk to the entrance for the trail down to the falls. The entrance is well signposted, you can also access Golden Valley Waterfall here but there is a closer parking lot if you’d prefer, the walk takes around 15 minutes to Golden Valley.
How To Get To Red Coral Waterfall Munduk?
Once you’ve found the trail head a concrete path will take you 650m down to the waterfalls entrance, around 20 minutes of walking. You will see a small shack where you lay your 45,000 IDR entrance fee and you’ve made it!

Once paying your entrance fee of 45,00 IDR per person at the small hut, you'll walk down a mountain path were you'll be immersed in a true Balinese experience. Bamboo Water charms chime often as you make your way to the waterfall.
A strong torrent of water flows down into a shallow pool below and bubbling streams peel away from the what is Munduk Waterfall. A popular spot in the mountain town, Munduk Waterfall is a great place to admire Bali's tropical waterfalls.
You can plunge yourself under Munduk Waterfall to feel it's power and refreshing properties, in fact we saw multiple people brave the pool. The waterfall is strong but the pool is shallow allowing you to stand near the flowing water. If you choose to cool off make sure to stay safe and consider how strong the waterfall is when you visit.
The area is also perfect to snap a great shot, you can walk around the stream to a rock with a great vantage point!

How Hard Is The Hike To Red Coral Waterfall?
There are two ways to access Red Coral Waterfall, the first is via the path from Labuan Kebo, the second waterfall on the four waterfalls hike and the other is down from the road.
When Is The Best Time To Visit Red Coral Waterfall?
The best time to visit Munduk is during the dry season (April-September), this will mean the trail is dry, the weather is predictable and there is still some water cascading down. The best time to see the waterfalls will be just after rainfall.
How Much Is Entrance To Red Coral Waterfall?
The entrance to Red Coral is the most expensive on the four waterfalls walk at 45,000 IDR per person.

One of the more accessible waterfalls in Munduk, Red Coral Waterfall or Munduk Waterfall is a great addition to your itinerary. Whether you complete the full four waterfalls trek or choose just to visit this one you'll experience the true beauty Bali has to offer, that is lost in the southern parts of the island.
At 45,000 IDR Munduk Waterfall is slightly more expensive than others in the area but you do have the choice to cool off underneath the falls. We think it's worth the visit and would recommend it to anyone staying in the area.
