Beto Cold Spring - A Refreshing Pool In Siargao
A popular activity in Siargao is to visit one of the many cold springs on the island. Due to the humid climate this is the perfect way to cool off, especially if you want to escape the crowded beaches and immerse yourself in a tropical jungle. To me the cold springs feel like a scene from a movie or book; the dragonflies flitting past and gentle sounds of splashing water transport you and you can’t help but relax.
Beto Cold Spring which joins onto a river is one of the larger springs found on Siargao and has more activities to offer than other springs such as Bugak. Overhanging the pool is a large tree with a rope swing that you can use to propel yourself into the water, as well as boats to hire, places with shade to relax and of course the spring itself where you can head for a refreshing dip. Beto Cold Spring is also a family run business and everyone is extremely friendly.

Where Is Beto Cold Spring?
Beto Cold Spring is found on the east of Siargao past the towns of Libertad and Barangay Santa Fe. The spring can be found off a small road that is easily accessible by scooter. By warned though, if you drive all the way down to the parking area the hill is extremely steep! We parked at the top and walked down, however the walk back up was tough.
How To Get To Beto Cold Spring Siargao?
On the island of Siargao we recommend hiring a scooter, the roads are well maintained and this really is the easiest and cheapest way to get around. From the main hub of General Luna, Beto Cold Spring is only a 20 minute drive and we hired our scooter for ₽300 a day. The spring is signposted from the road and there is a small area to park your scooter just outside the spring entrance.
If you don't fancy driving a scooter in the hot midday heat we don't blame you! We recommend Hiring a Private Driver to take you around the island. This Budget Land Tour in Siargao has over 1 thousand bookings and 4.5 star ratings!
What To Expect At Beto Cold Spring
Beto Cold Spring is more developed than Bugak Cold Spring, the parking area is larger and there is an array of activities on offer. Beto Cold Spring is also fresh water meaning if you’re fed up on constantly being a salty sea dog then this is the place to head.
First of all you can rent a hut for ₽350, this will give you somewhere to eat your lunch, hang out your towel and chill under the shade of a traditional kubo. If you’re in a group this is a great way to spend your day however if you’re a solo traveller on a budget don’t worry there is plenty of shade under the trees around the cold spring without hiring a hut.
If you’re looking for more adventure why not hire a kayak or canoe for ₽100 or ₽200 for one hour to explore the iconic mangroves of Siargao and visit the nearest village which is situated on the river.
The spring also has 2 rope swings and multiple jumping spots that you can enjoy alongside the local kids.
How Much Is Beto Cold Spring Entrance Fee
The entrance fee is ₽30 per person and if you arrive on a scooter you’ll have to pay the parking fee. As mentioned above we parked up and walked down to avoid the steep hill, we therefore inadvertently missed the parking fee which is ₽20.
What Time Is Beto Cold Spring Open?
The spring is open from 7:30 - 5:30, we would recommend heading around lunch time as you can eat under the shade after a cooling swim.
Tip: It is also best to head at high tide.
Best Places To Stay Siargao
Siargao has lots of accommodation whether you’re looking for a surf school, a luxury resort or a budget hostel you’ll be able to find somewhere.
We recommend staying in the main hub of General Luna as this is where most of the restaurants are located, as well as easy access to most of the island's attractions. If you want to get away from the crowds you could head up north and stay in Pacifico, which is the northern hub of the island best known for its epic waves.
We use Booking.com and HostelWorld for all of our stays around the world!
Below we share some recommend places to stay in General Luna, Siargao:
Where We Stayed In General Luna
We chose the budget option of Dream Catcher Nipas when staying in General Luna mainly due to the kitchen which allowed us to cook our own breakfasts and lunches. These are very basic triangular huts which have mattresses on the floor so don't expect anything fancy, but the location is perfect for General Luna and the grounds are lovely.

Top Tips For Travelling The Philippines
If you’re visiting the Philippines here are our top travel tips:
Book flights in advance - they can become expensive if you leave it last minute… oh and check your luggage allowance to skip expensive check in fees at the airport. Don't forget your Apple Airtags to track your bags
Agree on taxi prices upfront - when getting into a tuk-tuk, tricycle or taxi, make sure you agree on a price or they have a meter, so many tourists get ripped off with a huge price tag at the end of the ride.
Take it slow - don't feel the need to see all the islands, we recommend picking a few and doing them properly. See the island in full, find some locals and sing Karaoke..
Embrace the chaos and get stuck in, the locals are friendly and love to help and share information about their home!
