Tayangban Cave Pool: Your Complete Guide To Siargao's Best Cave 2025
Siargao Island is an adventurers paradise, home to some of the friendliest locals and unique attractions. We think Tayangban Cave Pool is Siargao's best caves, although it might not look like anything special from the road as you drive by, whats under the ground is something special. As you follow your guide into the darkness of bats and crystals, you'll crawl and scramble until you reach a paradise natural pool.
The Canyoneering Tayangban Cave Pool Tour will have you clambering over rocks, clinging onto ropes and wading through knee deep water. At the end you will be greeted by a lagoon with a 7m cliff jump, rope swing and chill out swing. Here’s everything you need to know before your tour, from the entrance fee, tips and whether it's worth it.

Where Is Tayangban Cave Pool Siargao?
Tayangban Cave and Pool is found on the east side of Siargao, close to the Maasin River Swing and on the way to the Magpupungko Rock Pools.
The entrance is off the main circular road round the island and is sign posted well. The drive from General Luna will take around 30 minutes on a scooter, the roads are well kept and not too busy.
How To Get To Tayangban Cave Pool?
We recommend hiring a scooter on the island, we rented ours for ₽300 a day. This will give you the freedom to visit the attractions when you like as well as spend as much time at each place as you wish.
If you don’t want to drive a scooter you can Hire a Tourist Van or tricycle to take you around the island. This will cost more and therefore something you need to consider if you’re a budget traveller like us!
What To Expect At Tayangban Cave Pools Siargao
Your guide will give you a Head Torch and helmet which are a necessity as the cave is pitch black. He will lead you down a steep staircase to the entrance of the cave, now you’re ready to start your adventure. The cave is wet up to your waist so you’ll be wading through water, we recommend wearing swimming costumes and Wet Shoes however lots of people did it barefoot.
In the cave you’ll see a variety of rock formations, mineral deposits and bats. If you look up, remember to keep your mouth shut!
Why not try Siargao's Crossfit Gym or a more Relaxing Yoga Class
The walk through the cave takes about 15 minutes and at the end you’ll come to a paradise pool. Here you can use the rope swing (just be careful of the rocks below), or have a go at the 7m cliff jump. Our guide also showed us a ‘sketchy’ 10m jump that you have to climb to.
You can spend as much time as you like at the pool. When we were there it wasn’t too crowded meaning we could enjoy each part in turn. Once you’re ready follow the path back up to the road.
If you're an adrenaline seeker then why not try Siargao's Wakepark!
Tayangban Cave Pool Without Canyoneering
If you want to visit the cave pool without clambering over the rocks then you can simply ask the guides at the booth to take you down. We think it's worth a visit even if you don't feel comfortable going in the cave system. Sitting on the hand made rope swing and listening to the sounds of nature in the pools basin is something magical.
What To Take To Tayangban Cave?
Anything you take with you will get wet meaning we recommend just bring a Go Pro or your phone in a Waterproof Case. You could bring a Dry Bag but remember you’ll need your hands free to cling onto rocks and ropes throughout the cave system.
We also recommend wearing a good pair of Water Shoes, this will protect your feet from any sharp rocks lurking below.
We left our main bag at the entrance, the staff put it inside the hut for safe keeping.
Tayangban Cave Pool Entrance Fee?
The entrance fee was ₽200 each. We managed to join with other travellers to make a group of 5 to reduce the cost of the guide.

Best Places To Stay Siargao
Siargao has lots of accommodation whether you’re looking for a surf school, a luxury resort or a budget hostel you’ll be able to find somewhere.
We recommend staying in the main hub of General Luna as this is where most of the restaurants are located, as well as easy access to most of Siargao's best tourist attractions. If you want to get away from the crowds you could head up north and stay in Pacifico, which is the northern hub of the island best known for being home to some of Siargao's best surf spots.
We use Booking.com, Agoda and HostelWorld for all of our stays in The Philippines!
Below we share some recommend places to stay in General Luna, Siargao:
Where We Stayed In General Luna
We chose the budget option of Dream Catcher Nipas when staying in General Luna mainly due to the kitchen which allowed us to cook our own breakfasts and lunches. These are very basic triangular huts which have mattresses on the floor so don't expect anything fancy, but the location is perfect for General Luna and the grounds are lovely.
We recommend a minimum of a week on Siargao, especially if you want to learn to surf. The island has an abundance of activities for you to explore and it’s also a great island for digital nomads. Here’s our highlights.
Top Pick: Magpupungko Rock Pools
A natural attraction that is stunningly beautiful at low tide. You can spend a couple of hours exploring the beach, cliff jumping and swimming in the warm Tidal pools!
Can’t Miss: Learn To Surf
A must in Siargao due to the world famous waves, there are lots of beginner beaches and shops offering surf lessons.
Best Beach: Pacifico Beach
A surf beach located North of the island with endless white sand, chill vibes and sunshine.

Tips For Travelling Siargao
If you’re visiting Siargao here’s our top travel tips:
Stay in the General Luna and Cloud 9 area to be amongst the beautiful chaos and be in walkable distance from the best bars & restaurants.
There’s lots to do for non-surfers on the island, don't forget to try out the Siargao Wake Park!
When getting around the Philippines in a tuk-tuk, tricycle or taxi, agree on a price upfront and try to have the right change handy.
Use an E-sim like Airalo to stay connected and remove the hassle of a physical SIM, don’t rely on Wi-Fi as the island has frequent blackouts.

Final Thoughts: Tayangban Cave Siargao Island
Although shorter than lots of cave systems in The Philippines, such as Sumaguing Cave in Sagada, this one is not to be missed due to the stunning pool at the end. As you wind down into the cave system, you'll have to clamber over boulders and flowing water in the darkness, listening to bats flying above you with only a dim headtorch lighting the way. What an adventure!
After all of your hard work through the cave, you can cliff jump, relax and chill out on the hand made swing! We highly recommend visiting Tayangban Cave Pool on your way to the Magpupungko Rock Pools or after the Maasin River.
