How Much We Spent On The Pan American Highway - June

It's time for our June Pan American Highway budget round-up!

June was mostly spent in Peru, exploring rich Inca history, enjoying the mountains of Huaraz, and finally using the surfboard we were given in Bolivia!

With hiking and surfing filling most of our days, a lot of this month's activities were free although one highlight not to be missed was Paracas National Park. It's an off-road drive through a landscape completely unlike anything we've seen before, with dunes spilling over cliffs down to the water below, which turns out to be a haven for birds.

We also celebrated Mike's birthday on the road. Chocolate chip pancakes were made, and we enjoyed the simplicity of a minimalist celebration.

In fact, I'm writing this email from home. We've flown back to the UK for three weddings. One of the hardest parts of long-term travel is missing family and friends' milestones.

Along the way we've also had to make the hard decision to skip two funerals for people very close to us, decisions we didn't take lightly, but we're grateful to at least be home for the happier celebrations.

Because of this, there won't be a budget newsletter for July or August. Instead, I've included July's costs and our long-haul flight below, and we'll see you again for September's round-up.

Tip: We use Revolut to keep transaction costs low abroad and AMEX to book flights (we're slowly building back up our air miles after spending them on our flight to Santiago.)

Thanks for having a nose into how much we spend as we take on this epic expedition. If you'd life to support us we've set up a place where you can help fill Yoti's tank! Until next time, from somewhere along the Pan American Highway,
